Zanzibar Opens New Chinese-Financed and Constructed International Airport Terminal

The new $129 million international terminal in Zanzibar that was built and financed by China. The project was supposed to take 18 months to complete but instead required nine years.

President Ali Mohamed Shein inaugured Zanzibar’s new $129 million international terminal III, which was Chinese-funded and built. The hope is that this new facility will spur tourism that will generate the funds to repay the loans.
