A trio of Chinese nationals and two Mauritanians were kidnapped at gunpoint from a road construction site in southwestern Mali on Saturday by unknown militants.
The assailants destroyed equipment including a crane and dump trucks belonging to Chinese construction firm COVEC, and Mauritanian road-building company ATTM. They also stole five vehicles, according to a statement published on Facebook by Mali’s armed forces.
